Maserati Folgore: The Electric Tridents You Can Drive Today
What Folgore Means
Folgore is Italian for lightning, and Maserati uses it to designate its battery-electric models.
The distinction matters because the terminology in this category gets used loosely. A Folgore is a battery-electric vehicle, powered entirely by an electric drivetrain and charged from a plug. It is not a hybrid and not a plug-in hybrid. There is no gasoline engine that takes over on a long drive, and there is no fuel tank.
The Three Folgore Models
Grecale Folgore is the electric version of Maserati’s SUV, and for most buyers it is the most livable entry point to the badge. The Grecale is the model that handles daily Newport Beach life, from Fashion Island errands to inland runs, and the Folgore version does it in near silence. For the 2026 model year, the Folgore also gained a meaningful range improvement thanks to a new all-wheel-drive disconnect.
GranTurismo Folgore is the electric grand tourer, and it is the one that makes the case for the badge most convincingly. The GranTurismo was designed alongside its electric version rather than converted afterward, so the proportions work and the cabin does not feel compromised by packaging. On a Pacific Coast Highway morning, an electric grand tourer is a genuinely different experience: the same sculptural body and hand-finished interior, with the road noise and the view as the only soundtrack.
GranCabrio Folgore takes the same platform and removes the roof. Top down, in an electric car, on a coast road is an argument that does not need much elaboration.
Electric Elegance, the Maserati Way
Maserati’s approach to going electric is not to hide the technology behind restraint. It is to let the design speak.
Each Folgore keeps the proportions, the tailored materials, and the hand-finished details that define the interior of every Maserati. Step inside and the cabin still feels like a space built for a long drive, with the kind of finishing that rewards a closer look.
Why an Electric Maserati Suits Orange County
The daily rhythm here mixes coastal drives, freeway commutes, and evenings out where a car makes an impression the moment it arrives. An electric Maserati fits all of it.
Around town and on the freeway, instant response and a quiet cabin make the drive feel unhurried rather than hurried. And because these cars produce zero tailpipe emissions, they align with California’s clear regulatory direction.
Charging at home is a large part of the appeal. For many owners, plugging in overnight means starting most days with a full battery, and the routine of stopping for fuel largely disappears. Public charging continues to expand across the region, which makes longer trips increasingly practical.
Where the Electric Sedan Stands
Worth addressing directly, because it is a question we get.
Maserati announced an ambitious electric plan in 2022 that included six Folgore models, among them an all-electric Quattroporte. Three arrived: the Grecale, GranTurismo, and GranCabrio. The electric MC20 was cancelled in 2025 for insufficient demand, and the Quattroporte Folgore has been delayed repeatedly and has never been shown publicly.
Maserati leadership has since confirmed the intention to return to the sedan segment, but nothing has been announced on timing, name, or powertrain. So there is no electric Maserati sedan to order, and we would rather tell you that plainly than take a deposit on a maybe.
Owning an Electric Maserati Here
Bringing a Maserati into your life is about more than the car in the driveway.
Our team can walk you through purchase and lease options that fit how you want to own the car. And when it comes time for service, our technicians work on Maserati vehicles specifically, which matters on an electric model as much as a combustion one, since the systems involved are marque-specific rather than generic.
See One in Person
An electric Maserati is a car you have to drive to understand. The numbers do not convey what the immediacy feels like in a vehicle tuned this way.
